I am presently facilitating a retreat for the Presentation Sisters in Newfoundland. During lunch today I had an interesting conversation with one of the sisters about The Veiled Virgin, a unique marble statue which is presently housed at the Presentation Sisters Motherhouse in St John’s Newfoundland.
One can only be stunned by its unique beauty. I found myself asking: How could the artist - Giovanni Strazza - possibly create such a beautiful face beneath a transparent veil of marble?
